The Rescue of Andromeda

from Metamorphoses by Adam Haws

/

about

A bit of industrial musique concrète, the opening depicts Perseus’s descent on winged feet to discover the mournful Andromeda chained to a rock, menaced by a sea monster. Those chains become a rhythmic element against a dark bassline. The fight with the sea monster reaches its apex and finally Andromeda is rescued at the end and all ends happily ever after (give or take a Red Wedding). This provided an opportunity for me to fulfill a lifelong desire to transform myself into a sea monster, so those sounds are my voice recorded into a stock pot and pitched down, and the rhythmic elements were me hitting inanimate objects around the apartment.
