Niobe, the Weeping Fountain

from Metamorphoses by Adam Haws

/

about

Niobe grieves the death of her husband and 14 children and is transformed into a weeping rock on the Anatolian mountain of Mount Sipylus. The piece depicts that mountainous fountain. It consists of rhythms of sampled water sounds, brittle/shimmering electronic gamelan figurations and electric piano melodies. I pictured it being a snapshot of a process that recirculates infinitely.
