Baucis & Philemon

about

I wanted to evoke the nostalgia this aged couple feels for bygone days by nodding to jazz of the 1920s and ‘30s (anachronism be damned.) To that aim, many of the sounds are sourced from old 48 rpm records, as well as from a melodica I had lying around the house. The sound continually shifts until the gods send their mini-deluge and drown the village. The final variation is constructed out of wood sounds, representing Baucis and Philemon’s transformation into oak and linden trees.
